A 10mm iced out Cuban link bracelet is where most buyers land  wide enough to read as a statement, narrow enough to wear under a shirt cuff. Stone choice matters less than setting quality: a well set moissanite bracelet outlives a badly set diamond one. The clasp is where cheap pieces fail first, and it is the spec sellers are quietest about.

If you have been comparing a $189 plated bracelet against a $2,000 solid gold one and cannot work out what the gap actually buys, this guide breaks the price into its parts  width, metal, stone, setting and clasp  so you can tell which differences you will notice on your wrist and which you are paying for on paper. What width should an iced out Cuban link bracelet be?

Ten millimetres is the width that works for the most people. Below 8mm a fully iced Cuban stops reading as a Cuban and starts reading as a tennis bracelet; above 12mm the piece gets heavy enough that it slides, catches on sleeves, and puts real load on the clasp every time you move.

Width does more work than stone grade on a bracelet. A Cuban is viewed from a metre away, at an angle, in motion. What people register is total lit surface area, not the clarity grade of any individual stone. Going from 8mm to 10mm adds roughly a quarter more face up area across the same wrist length  a difference you see instantly. Going from VS to VVS on 2mm accent stones is a difference nobody sees without a loupe.

Our own bracelet line runs 9mm, 10mm and 11mm, because that band covers the overwhelming majority of what people actually order. We build wider on request, but we will tell you when a width is going to annoy you.

If you are matching a bracelet to a chain, keep the bracelet at or below the chain's width. A 10mm bracelet under a 12mm chain looks intentional. The reverse looks like an accident. Our iced out Cuban link chains list their widths on every product page for exactly this reason.

Moissanite, lab grown diamond or cubic zirconia  which stone belongs on a Cuban bracelet?

Moissanite for durability per dollar, lab grown diamond if you want a certified diamond, cubic zirconia only if the piece is deliberately disposable. On a fully iced bracelet  hundreds of small stones taking constant knocks against desks, doorframes and steering wheels  hardness and setting security matter more than they do on a pendant that hangs still.

Here is the honest comparison, including where we are not the right answer.

Choose lab grown diamond if certification matters to you, if you want a documented appraisal for insurance, or if you expect to trade the piece on. A lab grown diamond is chemically and optically a diamond, and no amount of arguing changes that a buyer down the line will value it accordingly.

Choose moissanite if you want the most durable fully iced bracelet your budget reaches. Its higher refractive index throws more fire than diamond, which on a wide Cuban is a feature  the whole point of the piece is light return in motion. Moissanite is its own stone with its own optical signature, not a stand in for something else, and it behaves differently under a tester. Choose cubic zirconia if this is a fashion piece for one season, you plan to rotate it out, and you have priced it accordingly. There is nothing wrong with that decision  it is only a problem when a seller charges lab grown money for it. Under the FTC Jewelry Guides (16 CFR Part 23), a simulant must be disclosed clearly and cannot be described in a way that implies it is a diamond. If a listing says "diamond finish" or "simulated diamond" without naming the material outright, treat that as an answer.

We do not set cubic zirconia. Every bracelet we make uses VVS clarity, DEF colorless moissanite or lab grown diamonds, which is why our entry price sits above the plated CZ tier and below the natural diamond tier. What actually makes a Cuban bracelet last?

Clasp construction, end link soldering and whether the links are solid or hollow. Those three decide whether a bracelet survives three years of daily wear. Stone grade decides almost nothing about longevity.

The clasp. A box clasp with a safety catch is the standard for a heavy iced bracelet. A lobster clasp is fine on a light chain and wrong on a 12mm Cuban  the load concentrates on a single spring gate that fatigues. Ask which clasp type is fitted and whether it has a secondary lock. On our bracelets the clasp type is printed on the product page: open box, hidden box, or hidden box with dual safety locks depending on the piece.

End links. The last link before the clasp takes every twist the bracelet experiences. If it is not soldered closed, it will open. This is the single most common repair we see come back through the workshop, and it is invisible in product photography.

Solid versus hollow. Hollow links let a maker sell a wide bracelet at a light weight and a low price. They dent, and once dented they cannot be properly repaired  the wall is too thin to take solder cleanly. If a 12mm bracelet weighs suspiciously little for its size, that is why.

Setting style. Micropavé maximises stone count and brightness but leaves more prong exposed. Channel setting protects stones between metal walls and sacrifices some sparkle. Prong set stones on a Cuban read biggest but need the most careful bench work. None of these is wrong; a maker who cannot tell you which one they used is.

Plating versus solid metal. Gold vermeil has a defined meaning  16 CFR § 23.4 sets the standard for what may be called vermeil, including a sterling silver base and a minimum gold thickness. Ordinary electroplate over brass is not vermeil and will wear through at the clasp and the underside of the links first. Ask for the base metal and the plating thickness in microns, or buy solid.

How much does an iced out Cuban link bracelet cost?

Across the market, iced Cuban bracelets run from under $50 for plated CZ fashion pieces to five figures for solid gold set with natural diamonds. The band that matters to most buyers real stones, solid metal options, made properly  sits in the low hundreds to low thousands depending on width, length, metal and stone.

Four variables move the number:

1. Metal. 925 sterling silver, then 10K, 14K, 18K gold, then platinum. This is the largest single jump in the whole calculation  gold is priced by weight, and a wide bracelet carries a lot of it.
2. Stone. Moissanite or lab grown diamond. Lab grown costs more at every carat weight.
3. Width and length. Both scale metal weight and stone count together, so an 8.5 inch 12mm bracelet is not marginally more than a 7 inch 9mm  it is substantially more.
4. Setting labour. Hand set stones on a custom width take bench hours that a stock size does not.

Every piece is made to order and takes 2–4 weeks in production after the design is confirmed.

The specs we publish on every bracelet  and the ones to demand from anyone else

We publish width, length, clasp type, stone clarity and stone colour on every bracelet we sell. Most of the market publishes width and a price. That gap is the whole reason this guide exists.

When you are buying anywhere else, ask for these five in writing before you pay:

1. Link width in millimetres  not "chunky", not "heavy"
2. Clasp type, and whether it has a secondary safety catch
3. Whether end links are soldered closed
4. Solid or hollow links
5. Stone material named outright  moissanite, lab grown diamond, natural diamond or cubic zirconia

A maker who has the answers gives them immediately, because they are bench facts. A seller who deflects to marketing language is telling you something.

How do you get the length right?

Measure your wrist snugly with a tape or a strip of paper, then add allowance for the width of the bracelet. A slim bracelet needs about half an inch over your wrist measurement. A 10mm Cuban needs closer to three quarters of an inch, because the width itself consumes circumference as the links sit around the curve of your wrist.

This is where people order wrong. They use their watch strap size, which is measured on a much narrower band, and end up with a bracelet that binds at the clasp. Wider bracelet, more length every time.

Which iced out Cuban link bracelet is right for you?

You want one bracelet you will wear every day for years. Solid 14K gold, 9–10mm, moissanite, box clasp with a safety catch. This is the configuration that survives daily wear without maintenance anxiety, and 14K is harder than 18K, which matters on a piece that takes knocks.

You want maximum presence for events and photography. 11–12mm, micropavé, silver or 10K to keep the weight and cost manageable at that width. Accept that it needs a prong check every six to twelve months.

You want a certified diamond piece. Lab grown diamonds in solid gold. Get the documentation at purchase and an independent appraisal for insurance before you wear it out.

You want to try the look before committing. A plated CZ bracelet from a fashion brand is genuinely the right call  spend under $100, wear it for a season, learn what width you actually like, then buy properly. We would rather you did that than spent $400 on a width you end up not wearing.

You want something nobody else has. Custom width, custom length, custom stone layout. That is what the bench is for, and it is the same 2–4 week production window.
